The Jordan 4 Retro Black Canvas swaps the model's usual leather and nubuck upper for canvas, in an all-black treatment. Buy it if you want a Jordan 4 with a completely different texture and weight from every other pair on the shelf.

Canvas changes the shoe meaningfully. It is lighter than leather, softer out of the box, and it creases in folds rather than sharp lines, so it ages more like a workwear piece than a sneaker. Everything else is standard Jordan 4: the plastic wing eyelets on the side panels, the mesh netting for ventilation, the visible Air unit in the heel and the TPU support cage in the midsole, all from Tinker Hatfield's 1989 design.

This suits people who already own a leather 4 and want something that reads differently, and anyone who finds standard Jordan 4 leather stiff through the break-in.

Material-swap Jordan 4s are made in small runs and do not repeat. Canvas in particular has only appeared on the model a handful of times, which is reflected in the price.
